About

Shally Vaid, MA, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, National Certified Counselor, and is the founder/director of Vaid Counseling Services. Shally holds a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology, Professional Counseling from Argosy University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University. She completed her internship at Atlanta Psychiatry and Neurology where she provided counseling to individuals, couples and families with various diagnoses. She has more than 15 years of clinical experience in the mental health field. Alongside private practice, Shally teaches university-level courses in Psychology and Cultural Diversity.

Shally's clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings. Shally has provided crisis intervention for a wide range of disorders which include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, chemical dependency, child & adolescent behavioral & emotional problems, suicidal/homicidal ideation/attempt and violent behaviors. She has experience working with a diverse population with dual diagnosis including medical issues/chronic pain. She has extensive training conducting psychiatric assessments on patients/clients with a variety of mental health conditions.

Shally specializes in providing treatment for individuals and families of children diagnosed with developmental, behavioral, emotional and learning disorders. She is highly effective in working with autism spectrum disorders and has extensive experience providing early intervention therapies to children diagnosed with autism. She has training in program implementation for autism and other disorders on the pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) spectrum, Down syndrome, behavioral disorders and learning disabilities. She has worked with children that range from having moderate to severe disabilities. She has implemented training sessions to special education teachers from various local schools. Shally is also trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. She is currently pursuing a Post-Masters certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) so that she may provide professionals and families with individualized programs for children with autism. Shally has gained invaluable experience in the area of developmental disorders while working at Jacob's Ladder Developmental Center in Roswell, Ga. where her passion for working with this population began.

Shally's past experiences living in various counties has taught her great respect and appreciation for diversity. Her bicultural background allows her to integrate Eastern philosophies with Western techniques of psychotherapy.
